“A political crisis is brewing in Haiti over the upcoming presidential election, as protesters call for the current president to step down.
Garry Pierre-Pierre, founder of The Haitian Times, CUNY TV host and senior producer, offers analysis of the crisis in Haiti over the presidential election as protesters call for the current president to step down.
The protests stem from voter fraud allegations, Pierre-Pierre explains. He says there were 54 candidates in the recent presidential election. “The country was not ready to handle the situation,” said Pierre-Pierre, referring to the scale of the voting process. In the end, all candidates cried foul except the leading one, Jovenel Moise, who Pierre-Pierre described as “hand-picked” by the current party.”
