The video below is from the second Wyrd/Patchworkshop, held on October 26, 2018 in Prague. The folks at Diffractions Collective, in collaboration with a few other groups, have been organizing sessions around ‘patchwork’ – as intellectual and sociotechnic platform for seeking alternative modes of living and designing. The group seems interested in examining how technology affords opportunities for decentralized networks to emerge, and how those networks can be realized or manifested in physical space.
They asked representatives from Synthetic Zero to present on patchwork theory as related to ‘Deep Adaptation’, so I presented a short paper titled, “Global Wyrding and Deeply Adaptive Patchworking”, on the connections between climatic breakdown, deep adaptation, and patchwork as anticipatory discourse/model of social assemblages to come. Much gratitude to Dustin, Casey, Thomas, and everyone at Diffractions for the invite. It was a lot of fun.
You can expect more posts, talks and presentations on this topic as life in the Anthropocene continues to get much weirder.
