Žižek: Rage, Rebellion, Organizing New Power: A Hegelian Triad

I don’t share Slavoj’s optimism that we can make things substantially better but he seemed quite clear and reasonable to me in this talk, I can see making a pragmatist’s use of his Lacan quote ” “Interpretation is not tested by a truth that would decide by yes or no, it unleashes truth as such. It is only true inasmuch as it is truly followed.” as a call for a kind of experimental jiu-jitsu. see also: http://www.zizekstudiesconference.com/uploads/1/3/7/3/13739143/zizek-am_i_a_philosopher.pdf

  1. Zizek surprisingly likable here, and not coincidentally persuasive. “The truth is out there” . . . nice. One of many compelling moments.

  2. He has his moments… maybe he’s realizing the old jokes aren’t working anymore, so he’s playing it straight these days: actually using reason to clarify and put concepts to work in a pragmatic way rather than the old oscillating flyby…
