Steven Shaviro’s The Rhythm-Image (Deleuze’s Cinema)

via http://blog.uvm.edu/aivakhiv/2015/04/02/post-cinema-cultures-of-energy/

maybe it’s a kind of aspect-blindness on my part but by and large I don’t find films (fiction not docs) and videos to be particularly vivid/moving/convincing examples of the rather interesting phenomena that folks like Steven are otherwise gesturing towards in our daily living. Don’t know his working process but may be a symptom of starting with thinking/texts and than looking for illustrations instead of starting with the phenomena in question.

  1. Thanks for sharing. More info on the panel from which this talk was taken (at the Society for Cinema and Media Studies conference in Montreal, March 27, 2015), along with my general introduction, can be found here: http://wp.me/p1xJM8-FK

Also, videos of more great talks — by Patricia Pisters, Adrian Ivakhiv, and Mark B. N. Hansen — are on the way. Stay tuned!
