Panic & The City, Arran James

“There was no apparent trigger to my panic attacks, they were caused by the capitalist city itself. Part of Transformation’s politics of mental health series. Content warning.”

  1. not sure about the causality suggested here, might be that your own predisposition to panic was just amplified by (or echoed in) the surround/environs and that they can (and have?) occur in other more low-key settings. What seems more certain, and damning, in my opinion is that our hyperstimulating cities can and do produce similar traumatic experiences in people who are not so predisposed.
