I appreciate the main thrust of this work which traces out many of the uses of the anthropocene but he loses me when he starts to preach on how the term will/must register with us, so close to giving up on the old biblical hermeneutics of law-giving logoi which code our responses and coming down to earthly terms with our all-too-human contextualized riffing on themes, our various speech acts and other gestures/manipulations. Do they teach reader-response/reception theories anymore in higher-ed?
